Matchan Soup Kitchen, SVDP

Christine Devine | (248) 408-1692

For a number of years, a group of people from our parish have assisted once a month at the Matchan Soup Kitchen in Pontiac. This center is operated by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a number of churches offer their services to help in the preparation and serving of the NOON meal. This particular Soup Kitchen operates Tuesday and Thursday. The time commitment is from 8:30 a.m. (when they leave from Troy) until about 2:00 p.m. (when they return). A few hours a month to serve the poor and hungry would be a wonderful gift of giving. If you would like more information or are willing to volunteer as a substitute, please call Christine Devine 248.408.1692.

Faith@Work – Catholic Books, Gifts, and Cafe

Our favorite Catholic bookstore is just around the corner at 1977 E. Wattles in the Infinity Square Plaza. They stock over 850 titles, as well as gift items including jewelry, rosaries, art, First Communion gifts, and crucifixes. They also sell Capuchin baked goods and Canticle Cafe coffee and candles. There are great T-shirts with faith-based messages and even Christian CDs and videos. Best of all, Faith@Work is non-profit; all realized profits support charitable causes in our neighborhood and worldwide.
