Evangelization Committee

“The Church exists to evangelize. Faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ’s command, his disciples went out to the whole world to announce the Good News, spreading Christian communities everywhere.”

The Evangelization Committee meets once a month (Sept – May) of every month at 6:30 pm. No experience necessary – just a heart to bring others to Jesus! For more information, please contact Brenda Kozlowski at 248-689-8380, Ext. 103.

Jesus Christ makes all things new! He himself is at work to renew his Church in the Archdiocese of Detroit. He is pouring out his Holy Spirit anew so that every member of the Church may be formed and sent forth as a joyful missionary disciple, so that the Gospel may be unleashed in southeast Michigan.

When something exciting or important happens in our life we want to share it with as many people as we can.  Our faith is something exciting and important, and we should share that with as many people as we can.  Evangelization is a word we used to describe sharing our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.

To say the Church exists to evangelize is to say that evangelization is not an extra or a optional item. It’s integral to who and what the Church is.

All Christians are called to evangelize.  Jesus commissioned the disciples, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-19). The last command Jesus gave his disciples before he ascended was, “Go into the whole word and proclaim the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).  The Church exists to evangelize.  This is not just the job of priest and religious, but of all Christians.

Simply put, evangelization is proclaiming the Good News of Jesus to all those around us.  We evangelize with our words and with our actions.

We recognize our own need for ongoing evangelization to fully know the Good News that every person is a beloved child of God and saved by His own Son’s life, passion, death and resurrection, and for spiritual development that helps us grow in our experience of a close, personal relationship with God.

We seek to evangelize others by:

  • Incorporating (as appropriate) the following methods used by Jesus – teaching, healing, conversation, service and example.
  • Incorporating the following elements advocated by the Vicariate – witness, outreach, proclamation, invitation, conversion and discipleship.
  • Coordinating and utilizing evangelization resources from the Archdiocese and the Vicariate.

Prayer to Unleash the Gospel

God our Father, you have called us
to be witnesses to Jesus
and have commissioned us to lead
all people to encounter him.

Send your Holy Spirit
to enlighten our minds
so that your will may be clear to us and that we may accept it.

Dwell within our souls
and make our hearts your own.

Transform us into a band of
joyful missionary disciples
embracing the fruits of Synod 16
so as to share the good news
of Jesus Christ in Southeastern Michigan
through joyful
evangelization and service.

Come, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle
in them the fire of your love. Amen.

Saint Anne, pray for us.
