Evangelization Committee

“The Church exists to evangelize. Faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ’s command, his disciples went out to the whole world to announce the Good News, spreading Christian communities everywhere.”

The Evangelization Committee meets a few times a year at 6:30 pm. No experience necessary – just a heart to bring others to Jesus! For more information, please contact Brenda Kozlowski at 248-689-8380, Ext. 103.

Jesus Christ makes all things new! He himself is at work to renew his Church in the Archdiocese of Detroit. He is pouring out his Holy Spirit anew so that every member of the Church may be formed and sent forth as a joyful missionary disciple, so that the Gospel may be unleashed in southeast Michigan.

When something exciting or meaningful happens in our lives, our natural instinct is to share it with others. Our Catholic faith is the greatest gift we have received, and it is something worth sharing with as many people as possible. The Church uses the word evangelization to describe the mission of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and inviting others into a relationship with Him.

To say that the Church exists to evangelize means that evangelization is not merely an optional activity or one ministry among many. It is at the very heart of the Church’s identity and mission.

Every baptized Christian is called to evangelize. Jesus entrusted this mission to His disciples when He said, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Before His Ascension, He also commanded, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). This mission belongs not only to priests and religious but to all followers of Christ.

Simply put, evangelization is sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with those around us. We do this through both our words and our actions, bearing witness to the love, mercy, and truth of God in our daily lives.

At the same time, we recognize our own need for ongoing evangelization and spiritual growth. We continually seek a deeper understanding of the Good News—that every person is a beloved child of God, redeemed through the life, Passion, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through prayer, formation, and the sacraments, we grow in a closer and more personal relationship with God.

As a parish community, we seek to evangelize others by:

  • Following the example of Jesus through teaching, healing, conversation, service, and personal witness.
  • Embracing the elements of evangelization encouraged by the Vicariate: witness, outreach, proclamation, invitation, conversion, and discipleship.
  • Coordinating and utilizing evangelization resources provided by the Archdiocese and the Vicariate.
  • Creating opportunities for individuals and families to encounter Jesus Christ and grow as His disciples.

Through these efforts, we strive to fulfill Christ’s command to share the Gospel and help others encounter the transforming love of God.

Prayer to Unleash the Gospel

God our Father, you have called us
to be witnesses to Jesus
and have commissioned us to lead
all people to encounter him.

Send your Holy Spirit
to enlighten our minds
so that your will may be clear to us and that we may accept it.

Dwell within our souls
and make our hearts your own.

Transform us into a band of
joyful missionary disciples
embracing the fruits of Synod 16
so as to share the good news
of Jesus Christ in Southeastern Michigan
through joyful
evangelization and service.

Come, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle
in them the fire of your love. Amen.

Saint Anne, pray for us.
