Fr. Steve will be inviting us to come together in October for 5 weeks. We will be partaking in a wonderful study called Altaration, taking a look at the Catholic Mass. We meet on Mondays starting October 9, 16, 23, 30 & November 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Davidson Center. The purpose of this series is to look at and capture the beauty and depth of the Mass.  Some Catholics consider the Mass to be a bit antiquated and rather boring. Even those of us with deeper knowledge of what is transpiring during the liturgy can find it difficult to focus at times for a variety of reasons.

We live in an over stimulated, visually based media culture, one in which attention spans have been shortened and people often prefer entertainment to engagement. We will begin to look at the Mass from one of opinion to one of perspective. We will point out how our own perspectives can be more reactive than proactive. When we begin to understand what the Mass really is, we see how shortsighted and at times even blind we are to the reality of the Mass as it unfolds before us.

The Mass is a profound mystery to be sure. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) reminds us, “Liturgical catechesis aims to initiate people into the mystery of Christ… by proceeding from the visible to the invisible, from the sign to the thing signified, from the sacraments to the mysteries.” (CCC 1075)

I am hoping to see you all there! If you have any questions, please give me call. I can be reached at 248-689-8380, Ext. 120. Register by email
