The Worship Commission coordinates and oversees the planning for all liturgical celebrations of the Parish. They also coordinate and oversee the preparation, functioning and continuing education of all liturgical ministers of the Parish, i.e. lectors, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, musicians, servers, ushers, sacristans, etc. The Commission also discerns the Parish’s worship/liturgical/prayer needs and oversees the continuing education of the Parish on liturgical matters. Members are selected by lottery each spring.
Ushers are ministers of hospitality. They share the love and peace of Christ with others by being friendly, helpful, and hospitable at weekend liturgies. You will be assigned to a team at a Mass of your choosing and serve every third or fourth week. New ministers are required to attend a training session. Dependable young people fulfill an important need by ministering as altar servers at weekend liturgies. Students must be 9 years of age and/or in the fifth grade. Three servers are scheduled for and rotate throughout the 5 weekend Masses. Depending upon the number of volunteers, you will serve every 4 to 6 weeks. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
This ministry puts you at the center of the Church’s life. The celebration of the Eucharist on the Lord’s Day is our most important activity. During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, extraordinary ministers assist the smooth execution of the distribution of Holy Communion. Any active, confirmed member of St. Anastasia may serve in this ministry. You will be assigned to team at the Mass of your choosing. Lectors are the ministers that bring the Scriptures to life for all to hear. Mastery of public speaking is essential for proclaiming the Word of God.
