Jottings from Fr. J.J.

INCH BY INCH . . .-  We are almost there!  With a total goal of $248,532.00 for our Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) target, we are only $5,438 away.  Thank you to everyone who has already pledged.  You have been amazingly generous.  But those of you who have not yet given: Please, Please, Please, we need you!  It would be so satisfying not to have to pull the remaining amount out of our account to make up the shortfall.  Every nickel counts.  Heck, every penny counts.  So, please give.

BIG OPPORTUNITY, DON’T MISS IT-  Next weekend we are hosting author Sherry Weddell (Forming Intentional Disciples) and Bishop Michael Byrnes here in our parish.  They will be presenting a workshop for lay leaders on inspiring a deeper faith.  You will learn practical ways to introduce folks to Jesus and the Church.  I strongly encourage you to attend the “Discipleship Matters” workshop.  For more info, please go to our website or call the parish office.

BRING US YOUR GARDEN GOODIES-  Are you loaded up with tasty goodies from your garden?  Have too many or simply want to share?  You can drop off any of your vegetables on Sundays and Wednesdays outside the Religious Education office doors behind the Garden of Giving fence.  We will make sure that they are delivered to the homeless shelters and food kitchens.  So get picking and start giving.

SPEAKING OF ENJOYING THE HARVEST . . . – Feeling like your faith is in a kind of holding pattern?  Feeling like you could use a little boost to your moral?  Interested in like minded folks with whom you could develop a lifelong friendship?  If you said yes to any of these questions, then the Holy Spirit is probably asking you to get involved here at the parish and to share your talents.  In the last few weeks we have given you an opportunity to learn more about our Religious ed. program,  the RCIA, our many Bible studies, and Knights of Columbus.  This weekend you can learn about our Christian Service ministries and our Parish Life programs.  Stop by the tables after Mass in the gathering space and get the ball rolling.

PRO-LIFE PRAYER VIGIL– “Helpers of God’s Precious Infants of Michigan” will be holding a prayer vigil on Saturday, Sep. 21.  It will begin with a 7:30 pm Mass at Assumption Grotto Parish, Detroit with Archbishop Vigneron.  Prayers will follow in front of two E. 8 mile Road abortion clinics.  The Archbishop will help lead the prayers.  Please mark your calendars and speak for those who do not have a voice.

God bless,
Fr. J.J.
