Jottings from Fr. J.J.

COME ONE, COME ALL
You know how Fr. Eric comes across kind of mild mannered and sweet? You know how he shows compassion and generosity when you come to him with a problem? DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let him fool you. He has been trash talking all of you behind your backs. About what? He says he can eat more hotdogs than any parishioner at St. Anastasia. This Sunday, July 15th is our Parish Picnic at Raintree Park. It begins at 12:15 p.m. with a Mass at the park (there is no 12:15 or 5 p.m. in the church). So come and challenge our Associate Pastor to put those nitrate and pig snout filled casings where his mouth is. See you there for all the fun.

SPEAKING OF FUN SUMMER EVENTS
We are getting ready for our 19th Annual Golf Outing and we need golfers! The “International” Davidson Cup has been the major fundraiser for the Youth Program at St. Anastasia for the past 18 years. In other words, the more successful it is, the more we can take care of our teens. Each year the money raised at the outing goes directly to BASIC to help create a welcoming and nurturing environment for the teens of our Parish.

We are now forming teams for this year’s International Davidson Cup which will take place on August 18th. We need you!! Even if you have never golfed before, this is a fun day to join in with your fellow parishioners for a good cause. Or, purchase dinner tickets for the BBQ afterwards.

Please check out the information on this site

FYI, Fr. Eric said he could get more “holes in one” while eating the most hotdogs, or something like that…

WHILE WE ARE ON THE TOPIC OF OUR YOUNG FOLK
Our youth minister, Elizabeth, led BASIC this past week in days of service. They worked at Forgotten Harvest, the Capuchin Garden and Soup Kitchen, made sandwiches for the homeless, and cleaned up around here! I hope you noticed how crisp and clean everything was when you celebrated Mass since they cleaned the Church. Thank you, teens, for utilizing and sharing all your gifts.

WE BLED YOU DRY
Our last blood drive was a great success. One of our students sponsored it so she could get a $500 scholarship for college. She would only be able to collect if we reached 100% of our target. Because of your generosity, we reached 122% of our goal! So not only did you help people stay alive, but you also helped one of our hard working students pay for college. Good job St. Anastasia!

God bless,
 Fr. J.J.
