Top 10 Reasons to Attend…

(This weekend’s 3-day exhibition including an elegant opening-night gala, interactive art demos, and educational opportunities for all!  It also showcases the non-juried artwork of well-known artists and local clergy):

10) You get to complain face to face with the Archbishop about the crazy things your nutty pastor does!

9) You get to tell your friends that you attended the first major religious art show in the Archdiocese of Detroit since the early 60’s.

8) You will understand what Blessed John Paul the Great meant when he said, “In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art. Art must make perceptible, and as far as possible  attractive, the world of the spirit, of the invisible, of God.   It must therefore translate into meaningful terms that which is in itself ineffable. Art has a unique capacity to take one or other facet of the message and translate it into colors, shapes and sounds which nourish the intuition of those who look or listen. It does so without emptying the message itself of its transcendent value and its aura of mystery.”

7) If you come Friday night, you can get dressed up, drink primo wine, eat delicious food and rub elbows with local celebs (who needs the Oscars?).

6) You can assist in the “cheer for your church” contest and help make that beautiful statue of the Holy Trinity (the one out front on John R) ours to keep forever.

5) You can be at the world premiere of Anastasis:  Fantasy for Violin and Piano, which was composed for this event.  FYI: Anastasis means Resurrection.

4) You can expose your kids to art in this economy by attending Saturday morning’s event, allow them to create art, learn valuable things and not have to worry about any pesky tuition.

3) If you attend Saturday night, you can partake in the flavored martini bar, eat more delicious food, see a dramatic performance, and save the airfare to New York that would normally be needed to experience a true “Cosmopolitan” evening.

2) You can help make our parish shine and draw even more folks to join our awesome community and draw them closer to the Lord. (Plus help feed the homeless served at Canticle Café and our own ministries, with the profits).

1) Oh, yeah. You can also see some really, really cool art! If you attend Friday or Saturday, you can even witness the creation of a grand piece of religious art right before your eyes by professional artists (and maybe even take it home).

God bless,
