Homebound Ministers NEEDED
Have you ever considered bringing the Eucharist to a parishioner who could not get out to come to
Mass? We need people to join our team. The ministry involves visiting the homebound
once a month. You would be on a rotation to visit approximately four people, once a month. You can visit at times that work
into your weekly schedule. Please consider volunteering your time. Your commitment would be for the 2008 year. Please call Kim Houseman at 248-689-8380, Ext. 112 with any questions.
Help Needed at the Soup Kitchen
For a number of years a group of women from our parish have assisted once a month at the Matchan Soup Kitchen in Pontiac. This center is operated by the St. Vincent de Paul
society and a number of churches offer their services to help in the preparation and serving of the NOON meal. This particular
Soup Kitchen operates two days a week. Our group is in need of some additional
volunteers on the second Thursday of the month. The time commitment is from 8:30 am (when they leave from Troy) until about 2:00 pm (when they return). If any woman or man
would like to share in this ministry, your time and effort would be greatly appreciated.
A few hours a month to serve the poor and hungry would be a wonderful gift of giving.
If you would like more information or are willing to volunteer, please call Maggie Knepp at 248-524-9854.

“vacation season” is in full swing, we remind any of our travelers that the small shampoos, soaps, etc. that you
collect from hotels are great gifts for the many shelters in the Detroit area. Simply bring them to the parish office and
we’ll pass them on to those in need. Don’t throw away those partially used skeins of yarn! Or, possibly, you have
“found” some tucked away in a closet or box! It will be used for making blankets and afghans. It, too, may be
dropped off and the knitters among us will be grateful!

Dear God, As I start out today to minister to others in your name, give me, please, your very special gifts and grace:
Your insight to perceive the needs of those hurting, Your wisdom to respond holistically, Your grace to listen
with compassion, Your courage to endure, despite rebuffs and risks, Your insight into ways to help others help themselves.
