Fisherman's Net Charismatic Prayer Group

For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. And the parched land will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. And a highway will be there, and it shall be called the holy way. Isaiah 35:6-8

The Fisherman's Net Charismatic Prayer Group will not meet in July or August. We will gather again on Friday September 5, 7-9 p.m. in the chapel for praise and worship, scriptural teaching, and corporate and individual prayer. Please have a blessed summer and join us in September!

Catholic Scripture Study Program
Created by Scott Hahn & Mark Shea
Gospel of Matthew
Mondays beginning Sept. 17th, 7:00PM - 8:30 p.m.
Pastoral Center Room 117
Cost for study material: $50.00
Study Leader: Betty Navarre

Matthew's Gospel was written for Christians of Jewish background and models itself on the Pentateuch, or the Law of Moses found in the first five books of the Old Testament. The principal theme of Matthew's Gospel is fulfillment of the Old Covenant. Matthew shows Jesus as the author of the new and final covenant that the former Old Testament covenants with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David anticipate. Matthew also shows the Church established by Jesus as the kingdom of heaven on earth. The study group meets weekly for 29 weeks in small groups to share their responses to assigned questions and then gather together for a one half hour lecture. For further information or to register call Betty Navarre at 586-939-7412 or email her at
fnavarre@ix.netcom.com.

Adventure Bible Studies at St. Anastasia

The Religious Education office is once again offering some great opportunities to get involved in bible studies that you will not want to miss. Whether you are just beginning or looking for a deeper understanding of scripture, we have two great studies for you:

The Great Adventure Bible Study for Adults

A 24 week study that teaches the narrative story through 14 books of the Bible, that when read in order, tell the story from start to finish so you can understand the plan of salvation history. This study arranges the key people and events of salvation history in chronological order and shows how the remaining 59 books fit into the story. The cost for this bible study is $45 and includes a 24 week Study Guide with Questions and Responses, Workbook, Memory Beads, Bookmark, and a Bible Timeline Chart.

Adventures in Matthew Bible Study— Two groups—Adults and Young Adults (18-40)

- a 24 week study that builds directly on the foundation laid in The Great Adventure Bible Timeline, although it is not necessary to have completed the Great Adventure Bible Timeline to participate in this course. Adventures in Matthew focuses on Jesus as the fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament. It also touches on Jesus’ establishment of the Church as the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Set in the rich context of Christ's Jewish culture, this study helps us to understand the universal truths of the Kingdom of God and it will help you to understand more fully God’s will for each of us today. The cost for this bible study is $30 and includes a 24 week Study Guide with Questions and Responses.

Each session is scheduled for 2 hours and is roughly structured to include a 60 minute group discussion and a 50 minute instructional video commentary on the weekly reading by Jeff Cavins.

The bible studies will be held on the following dates and times:

Great Adventure Bible Study - 7pm Wednesday nights, starting 9/5, Facilitated by Kevin Tietz 248.740.9413 or

kevtietz@wowway.com

Adventures in Matthew Bible Study - 7pm Thursday nights, starting 10/04 Facilitated by Dan Tardiff 248.689.1936 or ffidrat_l@yahoo.com

Adventures in Matthew Bible Study for Young Adults (ages 18-40) - 9:30 am Saturday mornings, starting 9/8 Facilitated by Michael & Laura Hoeflein 248.852.1174 or hoeflein@wowway.com

(Babysitting may be offered, please contact us with your needs.)

Please contact the facilitators listed above to reserve your spot by 8/29/07.

“Be Still and Know that I am God” -- Meditative Prayer

We invite you to join us on Thursdays after 9:30 AM Mass in the cry room  for meditative prayer.  We will begin with Lectio Divina (Praying with Scripture) and then go into meditative prayer.  It is an uplifting experience to pray in this fashion for you don’t have to have the words to pray but only be still and open to the Lord.  If you are seeking a deeper experience of Christian faith please join us on Thursday mornings.  If you have any question, please contact, Betty Navarre at 586-939-7412.
