St. Anastasia’s Knights of Columbus has been honored to serve within our Parish for the past three years.  We would like to thank all of you for the support you have given during this time.   We are honored to work within a community of  such an outstanding group of individuals.

Please review the following ways in which you as a Knight of Columbus can attain satisfaction in giving of your time and effort to support the activities of our Parish.

Sincerely,

Dennis Smith

Knight of Columbus Council #13453

1)     Monthly (6 to 8 times a year) Pancake Breakfast provided for our church community.  This is a fund raiser that gives our parish an opportunity to socialize and provide monetary support for our Parish activities.  This is a regular alternative to coffee and donuts.

2)     We support morality in the Media and Right to Life Causes through our financial contributions.

3)     The Knights actively supported the override initiative on the Governor’s veto on Partial Birth Abortion.

4)     We provide financial assistance to seminarian’s at Sacred Heart Seminary.

5)     As a council commitment, we are supporting the Endowed Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred Heart Seminary. This Chair is in Honor of our founder, Father McGivney, and is used to train our Priest’s Deacons and Lay Ministers.

6)     Through our annual Mental Impairment Drive (Tootsie Roll Drive) we have raised over $5,000 to assist God’s Special People.

7)       We have helped to fund training in Arizona for our Life Teen Program Leaders.

8)    The Council has provided funds to assist our youth who attend World Youth Day.

12)  The Council supports our Parish CYO programs with monetary assistance when needed.

13)  Most recently we have started to provide dinners in conjunction with Father John’s Tapping On Theology programs held in the Davidson Center.

As you can see we are avery active group that goes out of its way to work and support all activities within the Parish Community.   There are many other programs that we support and again we encourage you to give a little of your time to join us in bringing support for our Parish programs.  We guarantee your involvement in the Knights to be rewarding and full of self satisfaction.

Who are the Knights of Columbus?

level0_logo.gif

The Knights of Columbus is an organization which began in 1882, by Father Michael McGivney and a small group of Catholics to provide for the security of widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners.
From the original idea, the order of Catholic men grew quickly and was dedicated to promoting the four principals of the order: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.  Today there are over a million and a half members in over 9,500 local councils.

Family
Family is paramount in the Knights of Columbus.  In fact it’s almost like one big family: husbands, wives, children, widows, college students, and religious.  All K of C programs allow families to work together, involving everyone to aid their Church, their community, and one another.
Activities revolve around the family: picnics, dances, Corporate Communions, family breakfasts, and many more all designed to involve the family and community.

Church
Making sure the Catholic Church remains vigorous and undiminished is one of the primary missions of   the Knights of Columbus.
To help counter the decline in the number of candidates to the priesthood and religious life, the KofC instituted a program called RSVP (Refund Support Vocations Program).  Through local council participation, the RSVP program provides moral and financial support to individual seminarians and postulants pursuing religious vocations.  Since its inception the RSVP program has helped over 6,500 seminarians aspire to priesthood with over $4,000,000 donated by local councils.

Community
Within the community the knights help to feed the hungry and help shelter the homeless.  They help senior citizens remain healthy and active.  They conduct and participate at blood drives, and they fight to protect the right to life for all individuals.
Last year, the Knights of Columbus donated $92 million to various charities and benevolent causes. Additionally, the Knights of Columbus volunteered over 32 million man-hours in support of community and Church activities.
Insurance
The Knights of Columbus, as a fraternal organization, provides low-cost insurance and financial products for Brother Knights.  The amount of insurance in force totals almost $20 billion.  The K of C insurance program is superior within the industry and open to all Brother Knights and their families.

Youth
Future knights can be found in our Columbian Squire organization which consists of young Catholic men age 12 to 18 which trains them in leadership.  It’s motto “Esto Dignus-Be Worthy”.  Another place young Knights can be found is in councils on college and university campuses.
In addition, K of C activities for young people include Easter egg hunts, picnics, free throw contests, essay contests and many more.

Church…Family… Community… Insurance…Youth.
As you can see, there are few areas of life that the Knights don’t touch and make better.

IT’S TIME FOR YOU TO DISCOVER A WORLD OF GOOD THINGS
The challenge to become involved has never been greater.  The search for solutions has never been more necessary.  What’s missing is You.
If you’re a practical Catholic man 18 years or older the K of C may be just what you’ve been searching for.  You can become as involved as you wish.  Just remember that the Knights offer an opportunity for fellowship with people who share the same beliefs, and who recognize the same duty to God, to family, and to folks in the neighborhood and around the world.
If you’re looking for an organization that can enrich your life in every way, your search is over! Contact our parish K of C council, the Saint Anastasia Council and sign up today.
