From Iraq and Afghanistan to the violence in our own city streets, the manger into which Christ is born anew in our
world cries out with longings for peace. While we await the Coming in anticipation, it
is a time to remember and renew our commitment to bring Christ’s peace, hope and healing to a broken world.
Let’s make seeking peace a priority!
Pax
Christi strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring,
articulating and witnessing to the call of Christian Nonviolence.
We don't have to be perfectly nonviolent. Nonviolence is something we grow into. Fr. Richard, a Franciscan priest, who has been engaged in nonviolent activities for much of his life says,
"Just because I talk about nonviolence doesn't mean that I am nonviolent. I will probably not be really nonviolent
until fifteen minutes after I am dead!" What he is indicating is that nonviolence is something we construct and grow
into. It is not a state of idealistic perfection. As Gandhi stressed, nonviolence is a continual series of "experiments
with truth" through which we gradually learn how to be human. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Faith@Work, located on the corner of John R and Wattles. You are more than welcome.
