“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
— Psalm 119:105
The 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Religious Education Program strives to bring the students closer to Christ so that they truly know him! Through the guidance and help of the catechists, administrative help, and the staff here at St. Anastasia, our aim is to bring Christ alive in their hearts and encourage the students and their parents to meet Him in the sacraments and to share our rich Catholic faith with them. We hope to help them develop a better understanding of the virtues and compassion toward others, understanding of the sacraments and Mass, and Church history. I welcome hearing from you!
May God bless you abundantly,
Florence M. Parent
Religious Education Sessions:
The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade children of St. Anastasia Catholic Church are offered Religious Education on Monday evenings either from 4:30 – 5:45pm or from 7:00 – 8:15pm.
Catechists:
If you’re interested in being a Catechist for the 4th, 5th, or 6th grades, please notify Florence Parent at 248-689-8380 Extension 101. You will receive detailed lesson plans for each session. You will also receive a “bucket” with additional materials such as markers, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, attendance records, etc. If you are able, we ask that you purchase a Bible for $20 so that you are using the same text as the students. See the “Catechist” page for more details on being a catechist.
All Catechists must attend Protecting God’s Children. Please register at www.virtus.org
Class Size:

There are usually eight students per catechist/room.
Bible:
Students coming into 4th grade receive a Bible. If a student is new to St. Anastasia in the 5th or
6th grade, they would receive a Bible at that time. The Bible that we are currently using is an NAB, Fireside “Catholic Youth Bible” and the NAB, Fireside “Catholic Youth Bible – NEXT”.
Service Project Journals:
Students coming into the 4th grade (or those in 5th or 6th grade that were not here last year) will receive a Service Project Journal. These journals have a label on the front of the spiral notebook explaining the recommended information to document. The real purpose is to help the student see the Christian Service that they have done over time. Our hope is that this Christian service will help shape each child into the person that the Lord has created them to be.
