The first – third grade program meets on Tuesdays at either 4:45-6:00, or 6:45-8:00. Additionally, first and third grade is offered on Mondays at 4:45-6:00.
Our first class is October 3 or 4, 2011. For this first session, we invite the parents to accompany their children to class to meet their catechists, see the classroom, and attend a brief prayer service! If you have children attending class at the same time, please do what is best for you family when determining which classroom to attend. We will conclude all together.
The full calendars are available on the menu to the left.
The Preschool – Third grade program at St. Anastasia is also known as the “G.I.F.T. Program”, where we Grow In Faith Together! The children are invited to continue their faith in a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout the year, all grades are invited to participate in service project opportunities, as they learn to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ!
Parents are invited to participate in their children’s faith formation by attending the sessions that indicated as such. Also, please consider participating by volunteering! You are vital to the success of our program!
First Grade
In First Grade, we use the Finding God series, by Loyola Press. The children learn that God is our creator and loves us. They also learn that Jesus came to tell us about God the Father and saves us through His life, death, and resurrection. We thank Jesus for the gift of Himself and the Holy Spirit by obeying the commandments, caring for one another, and the world.
Second Grade
The second grade has multiple components. We use the God’s Gift: Reconciliation, and God’s Gift: First Eucharist, both by Loyola Press. Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation begins in the fall, and is followed by the Sacrament of First Eucharist preparation, which begins in the winter. Using scripture, the children continue to learn about their faith and Jesus’ life and teachings on earth. This allows them to develop a greater understanding of the sacraments that they are preparing for.
Third Grade
In third grade, we also use the Finding God series, by Loyola Press. The children learn that Jesus is calling us to be faithful followers! They will also learn how each of the sacraments deepens our relationship with God, and how the virtues of faith, hope, and charity are the foundations for the moral choices that we make as we grow in our faith!
