The Historic Churches & Brunch Group
…from St. Anastasia visited St. Cunegunda Parish on their first visit of the 2011-2012 year. The church was awesome!! On the back wall of the sanctuary – a huge mosaic depicting Christ, with St. Cunegunda on his right. In the back of the church over the exit – another mosaic of the Black Madonna. There was so much religious art that it was hard to stop looking every which way! The church was extremely welcoming! Jim Kuhlman greeted us as we arrived; he was excited to have us there. Mass was said in English, Polish and Spanish! Oh, by the way, a Uganda priest said the Mass. We were treated to a historic background and tour by another parishioner. One of the things they did at this church for a fundraiser was very unique – they are selling 26 inch statues of 10 religious figures for $25 each. Go to the St. Barbara web site to order them. After Mass, we went to Cheli’s Chili Bar in Dearborn for lunch. I would love to include any parishioner on our mailing list – please contact me at 248-879-6033.

p.s. : our next tour in Jan/Feb will be to St. Louis the King Parish on St. Louis Ave.
