HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME
We had such a ball at the Parish Picnic last weekend. The food was good, the games were fun, friends were made and Mass went well (God reminded us that He is in charge with the only sprinkles of the day being at the consecration). By the way, if you could please pray for Fr. Eric? I beat him at every game we played that day and he got kind of upset. My tennis shoes are still a little damp after he dumped a cooler full of water on me. Don’t worry, I gave him an ice cream treat and tucked him in for a nap and he was much better for the rest of the day. Thank you to all who participated and made the day such a grand success.
SPEAKING OF RAINY DAYS and NEEDING TO SAVE FOR ONE!
Since we did not have a Sunday evening liturgy because of the picnic and the offertory was interrupted because of the rain, our collection was $7,000 under what we budgeted. If you want to still turn in your envelope, it would be greatly appreciated!
Secondly, we are really behind in our Catholic Services Appeal this year. We have only reached 76% of the target of $195,120. That means that if we do not raise the remaining $59,511 – then it has to come out of our operating budget. So PLEASE, PLEASE give if you have not yet pledged. If you do it soon, that will save the parish the postage of sending out a reminder letter. Thank you!!
GREAT THINGS HAPPENING
A few short weeks ago, we had our Vacation Bible School. It was a riot. Not only did we have fun (kids and adults alike), but God was certainly praised. If you see a staff member or volunteer who was involved, give ‘em a pat on the back. They did an excellent job.
The kids at VBS made some very creative stepping stones. So when you are wandering past the Davidson Center or Pastoral Center entrance, you might want to check them out. They are beautiful and may eventually end up in the “Children’s Garden” that we are working on.
Them young’ens have been messin’ with them new fangled whirly gigs called computers. It has caught on with some of the older folk, like Pope Benedict VI. He twitters. So in light of our progressive pontiff, so does St. Anastasia. I invite you to go to our webpage and sign up so that you can do whatever “twittering” allows you to do and keep informed about all the stuff that the Parish is up to. I’m going to go back to my abacus now.
If you too are one of those individuals who have mastered the computer, don’t forget that you can sign up for the 19th Annual Golf Outing at www.stanastasia.org/golf-outing/. The “International” Davidson Cup supports our BASIC youth program and we need your help.
WHAT GIFTS DOES HE KEEP TALKING ABOUT?
You hear me say again and again that I believe we all have gifts that the Lord wants us to utilize to serve Him. Well we have something that can help you to figure out not only what those gifts are, but also how to use them. It is called Catholic 2 Catholic Discipleship. We can place men with the men, women with the women, or couples with other couples. You would meet a couple times a month with your group and every couple months with the large group so speakers can assist you on your faith journey. I invite you to an informational meeting on Thursday, August 2nd from 7 – 8 p.m. in the Social Hall. Check it out.
