The mission of the “Garden of Giving” (formerly known as the Victory Garden) is to “encourage families to experience God’s wholeness through gardening, to raise their own produce, and to share with those in need.”
Would you like to play a part in the “Garden of Giving” here at St. Anastasia? We are looking for a few people to help out this spring and summer to help weed and water the garden. Since the garden is located in the courtyard it can only be accessed from inside the church during business hours. This is a great opportunity for teens to complete their service hours! Please give me a call or email me if you are interested. Cheryl Goniwiecha 248-879-2597.

We’ve been diligently working in next year’s budget as it is due at the Archdiocesan Offices by May 17th. We will be about a week late as I will present the budget to the Stewardship Committee at the next meeting on May 20th. Once Stewardship reviews the budget and Father JJ gives his stamp of approval, it then must be signed by him and the Chairperson of the Parrish Pastoral Council.

EXCITING NEWS FOR OUR PARISH: As you are probably already aware, a little over a month ago, Patty Chase, our Parish Catechetical Leader, was recruited by the Archdiocese of Detroit to fill one of the Vicariate Catechetical Leader positions. Patty is an extremely gifted and qualified individual; we were very sorry to see her go. She will be missed, but she has a big job ahead of her and needs our continued prayers and support. Ever since Patty shared the news that she would be leaving, I have been trying to be open to what the Holy Spirit wants for us here at such a large parish, and one that is so interested in catechetical formation.

Did you miss me, seems like it’s been a long time since we communicated. I hope your Easter was as good and blessed as mine. The collections for Easter and the weeks prior and post (March 28th to April 11th) continued strong and we are appreciative of your generosity. As of this writing, we are actually ahead of our Offertory Budget by $3,117.34 but also need to keep in mind that we’ve had several rather large unexpected expenses going all the way from security system upgrade/monthly monitoring to replacement of two HVAC (Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning) units. I can tell you that we are close to the budget numbers at this point and we continue to challenge the staff to cut expenses as much as possible while still delivering quality ministry. It’s an on-going battle, one that is much more difficult than it appears.

Gone Fishing!
We are so familiar with this fishing expedition that it feels like a quaint little story about Jesus making a big catch for his friends. That much is true, but it leaves out everything that happened before. It is a story about ordinary fishermen in an ordinary village in ancient Palestine. They have ordinary wives and ordinary children and ordinary lives. They are on the sea most of the time. Their faces are weather beaten, their hands cut by net barbs and hardened by the sea salt. It is a hard life of work, but it is a good life: honest, healthy and simple and they are content.

CONGRATS ARE DUE: Last weekend we had 19 individuals fully initiated into the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Keep these folks in your prayers and ask the Holy Spirit to continue to fill them with joy.

Attention all parishioners who use the Automated Donation option: National City Bank will be switching over to PNC Bank the weekend of April 10/11. All automated donations generated from accounts at NCB will need to supply me with new account numbers and routing numbers. You may do this by filling out a new form and turning it in to the Parish Office asap. Forms are available in the narthex or in the Parish Office. You can also download one from the home page of this web site. Click on “event fliers” in the left sidebar menu.
God bless, Franz

HAPPY EASTER! – Jesus has been raised from the dead and we experience that here at St. A’s. We want you to experience this as well (all year!). Some folks only celebrate His presence a couple times a year. We want you to you to be able to know and feel the love and intimacy of Christ as others do here at St. Anastasia. Here are just a few quotes from some of the Parish Council. We thought they may help you to reconnect with the Body of Christ that exists here in this wonderful parish. Remember you are “ALWAYS LOVED, ALWAYS WELCOME.”:
