Business Manager’s Update

by Franz Hoffer • October 30, 2009

From the Office

We received some good news from the AOD last week; thanks to your kind generosity, based on pledges received we have achieved our CSA assessment of $237,334 with actual pledges received totaling $247,663.02. If all pledges are met, that means a return to St. Anastasia, tax free (from AOD assessment), of $10,392.02. The actual collected is at $170,424 so the balance to be collected is $77,238.19. Aside from all the good intentions things do happen and some will not be able to meet or keep up their pledges, so not all of the pledged amount will be collected. But we at least have somewhat of a comfort level. Any overage in funds paid will be retuned to St. Anastasia in the spring of next year. Your commitment to St. Anastasia in these economic times is nothing short of miraculous. Please know that you humble the entire staff with your support. Read the full article...

Jingle All The Way . . .
You can pick up those Christmas Ball tickets this weekend. Get ‘em early and get ‘em often since so many folks are homeless. The more we raise for the Christmas Ball, the more we can help the warming center at St. Aloysius. The numbers in need are growing, so meet your need for a great evening and invite some of your family and friends who do not belong to St. Anastasia. Read the full article...

Picture Your Picture

by Marian Bart • October 24, 2009

Imagine. You’re at the kitchen table of your youth. Legs swinging under the chair, two Oreos on standby, the noise of a radio, cooking, and laughter vaguely registering from a distance. In front of you, standing proudly and scented with magic, is a brand-new box of crayons – a box grand enough to include its own sharpener. You are now either required or inspired to draw a picture of your church. What would follow?

Business Manager’s Update

From the Office

With the holidays coming up, I want to encourage you all to consider the automated donation program. I’ve been trying to keep this in front of you for the last couple of weeks and I’ll continue to do so. With many of you leaving over the holidays, it’s a great way to continue your support of St. Anastasia and the ministries provided. I really think this is an idea and process whose time has come. We’ve been utilizing the program for a couple years, all the bugs are worked out of it (have been for some time) and if you talk to anyone enrolled in the program, I am very confident they will sing its praises. Please consider it, not only for your convenience, but for the cost savings to St. Anastasia. As I mentioned in a prior article, we spent just over $12,000 on envelopes last year. Boy, what we could do with an additional $12,000 every year! Read the full article...

Jottings from Fr. J.J.

by Father J.J. Mech • October 23, 2009

If Mr. Smith can go to Washington, so can we!
St. Anastasia Parish is hitching a ride (actually we are renting a very nice bus) to travel to Washington, DC in January for the 37th March for Life. We will join 200,000 other folks like ourselves from all over the United States to speak for those who do not have a voice. Over 50 million babies have had their lives taken through abortion over the last 37 years. So on January 22nd, we will leave for DC, participate in a youth rally with music and praise, celebrate Mass, walk on the mall for the March and arrive back home by Saturday morning to have you in your jammies, watching cartoons. The folks who went last year said it changed their life. We only have room for 50 people, and we need to get your name registered by the end of November. It is designed for students from Junior High through College, so parents, bring your kids. Kids, bring your parents. This journey will not only benefit your faith, but will benefit all those little ones who need our help. Give us a call at the office and join us. Read the full article...

Business Manager’s Updates

From the Office

I got a few questions via e-mail regarding the paper recycling program and how successful it has been. For FY 2008/09 we received $1,327.57 from Abitibi Recycling. So far this fiscal year (July 1st to present) we’ve received $501.06. At this pace we will exceed last year by about 20%. Please continue to bring your old papers to the recycling center located in the back corner of the parking lot and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same. Read the full article...

Mark My Words

by Father Mark Prill • October 16, 2009

The weather is colder, the leaves are changing, and the Lions are still losing football games. That can only mean one thing: fall is here. This year has moved by fast. With the seasons changing, this is a good time to look at our lives and see what type of changes we may need to make. While we are getting ready for winter and the snow, we have to take stock and see where we are in our faith life. Too often bad habits creep in our prayer life and our relationship with God. In the next week or so, I invite all of us to prayerfully look at our lives and see what is good or bad and what is helping or not helping our relationship with Christ. We must do all we can to make our relationship with Christ sound and pray for grace to do it. Read the full article...
